Teignbridge Crisis Support Service

This service offers initial practical support for people over the age of 50 who find themselves facing some personal difficulty. This could be following bereavement or when partner or spouse has to move into residential care.

At these times there are many things to do, often at a time of great personal distress when people feel least able to cope.

We recognise that some people are faced with the additional challenge of having to cope with these changes alone, as they have no family or friends available to support them.

The service can arrange for a trained and CRB checked Volunteer Advocate to make a home visit to help and support you to manage some of these practical tasks.

To offer further longer term support our trained volunteers will also call you on a regular weekly basis for a friendly chat, to help you maintain social contacts and to provide information, advice and contact information for other services and organisations, if required.
