Engaging Older People

Age Concern Devon is working in conjunction with AC England and DFID (Department for International Development) to raise awareness of older peoples' issues in developing countries.

The project aims to:

• Increase involvement of older people in the UK in the development debate
• Improve older peoples knowledge and understanding of poverty in the developing world
• Provide information about the actions we, as individuals, groups or local communities, can take to bring about change in reducing poverty and improving quality of life for older people in local, national and international communities
• Raise awareness in the development sector of the importance of consulting and including older people in initiatives in developing countries and development action in the UK .

Using our established link with TAFU - The Aged Family Uganda - Age Concern Devon can put the human face on development issues by discussing older peoples' common concerns, lives and problems as well as each organisations success stories and achievements. Together we can make a world of difference for older people.
